The Ministry of Human Resource Development has taken an initiative for the welfare of the students. This time, it has targeted the extra baggage and stress that occurs to the students. If any of the schools would not follow this rule and the weight of the bags would exceed the provided limit then the schools may face troubles.
To avoid the burden of the students, MHRD has defined the weight of the school bags for the various students of the different classes. For Class 1 and 2 students, the weight of the school bags should be 1.5 kg. Students who are studying in class 3 to 5 should have only 2-3 kgs bags. The ministry has specified 4 kg weight for the students of class 6 and 7. For class 8 and 9 students, MHRD has instructed the schools to have 4.5 kg bags. Now, the students of class 10 should have only 5 kg weight in the school bags.
MHRD has decided the weight of the bags for the students of different classes for their convenience. On November 20, 2018, the board has shared a notice in which the new instructions have been mentioned for CBSE affiliated schools. The MHRD has instructed to all the States and the Union Territories to follow the criteria provided for the weight of the school bags in accordance with the Government of India instructions. Regarding this, all the schools under the Department of Education have been directed some instructions.
