Every year, the Gujrat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board (GSHSEB) conducts Gujarat Common Entrance Test (GUJCET) for students to get admission in B.tech and B.E. courses. According to the official announcement made by GSHSEB, the GUJCET examination date has been changed for the second time. It will be conducted on April 23 as per the official announcement.
The GSHSEB stated that owing to the CBSE exams, it has decided to change the date of examination from April 4th to April 23rd to avoid clash of examinations. The Board stated that last year too the exam was conducted on April 23rd.
The GSHSEB Chairman A J Shah stated, ““Earlier, before changing the date to April 4, we waited if there would be any change announced by the CBSE for ten days. But recently, the central board changed its exam date from April 2 to 4. This will clash with the GUJCET date and since CBSE students take GUJCET also, this change in date was necessary,”
Earlier, the GSHSEB has postponed the examination date from March 30th to April 4th citing the same reasons. The chairman said that before announcing the change yet again, they consulted the chairman of CBSE board too.
Mr Shah stated, “I confirmed from the CBSE chairman herself before announcing the fresh date this time. It was only after she assured that there would not be any further changes in the schedule that April 23 was decided.”
The GSHSEB actually wanted to conduct the exam in March itself. However, Mr Shah stated that unfortunately the exam had to be postponed again. The GUJCET is mainly attempted by the students who complete class XII for admission to engineering as well as diploma pharmacy courses in government, grant-in-aid and self financed private institutes of Gujrat. The GUJCET 2019 Exam will be conducted in Gujrati, Hindi and English languages.
