*Question 1*: In a city out of 15000 voters, 60 % voted. Find the number of voters who did not vote?

*Solution*:

Let the total voters = 100%

Voters who voted in % = 60%

=>Percentage of voters who did not vote = 100 -60 =40%

Total Voters = 15000

=> 40% of 15000 did not vote = 40% of 15000

= (40/100) of 15000

= (4/10) x 1500 = 6000

Thus, 6000 did not vote

*Question 2*: Ravi purchased an old scooter for Rs.12000 and spent Rs.2850 on its overhauling. Then he sold it to his friend for Rs 13860.How much percent did he gain or lose?

*Solution*:

Purchase price = Rs. 12000,

overheads = Rs.2850

Total cost price = Rs (12000 + 2850) = 14850

SP = Rs. 13860

Loss= Rs (14850-13860) = Rs. 990

Loss% = (990/14850) x 100 %

= 6(2/3) %
