Important questions based on NCERT syllabus for Class 7 Chapter 14 - Symmetry:

Question 1: After rotating through an angle of 120 degrees through its centre of symmetry the figure looks exactly the same as its original . At what other angles will it happen for the figure? Describe with an example.
Solution:
If it happens for 120 degrees it will happen for multiples of 120 degrees i.e.,
120 ,240 ,360 .
Example is an equilateral triangle.

Question 2: A figure has lines of symmetry as 4 and rotational symmetry of 2. Find its area given that its side length is 5m and base length is 6m and height is 4m. Find the area of the figure?
Solution:
The figure that will have 4 lines of symmetry and 2 rotational symmetry is parallelogram.
Area = (6) x (4) = 24 m^2.

Question 3: How many of the given alphabets have rotational symmetry?
Solution:
Z,H,N have rotational symmetry.
If the given alphabets are rotated about a line passing through their centres it resembles the same alphabet.
