A centre of excellence for training teachers of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) schools would come up in Dehradun, Uttarakhand. In this regard, the Union Government has sanctioned a sum of Rs 20 crores for setting up the centre. The regional officer of CBSE Dehradun, Ranvir Singh met the Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat to discuss about the plot of 3550 square meter attached to the land of regional office near Doon University to set up the centre of excellence. Further, the Chief Minister instructed the District Magistrate (DM) of Dehradun to prepare a proposal about that land.

However, 700 schools in Uttarakhand and 1100 schools of western Uttar Pradesh are affiliated to the CBSE Dehradun region. Additionally, the new regional office and the centre of excellence would be the great additions that would meet the academic requirements of the students and general public in and around the state. Moreover, the centre of excellence would be a great help for the teachers, at present, they have to travel to Rai Bareilly for training.
Situated on Kaulagarh road, Rajendra Nagar area, the CBSE Dehradun office was set up in January 2014 by taking away some districts of Western Uttar Pradesh and 13 districts of Uttarakhand from the Allahabad region and at present, due to the high rent, the board has planned to build its own office in Dehradun. However, the construction of the building would start soon.
